Student Opportunities

Join us to help shape the future of the University. We’re here to develop the skills and talents of our students, and with a broad mix of role vacancies available, we’d love to hear from you.

Student opportunities are offered based purely on the knowledge, skills and abilities you can bring to the role, not on your experience. This is your chance to gain employment experience and secure a head-start in your career, or to earn some extra money whilst developing skills to support your graduate career prospects. Some vacancies will be available exclusively to our Cardiff Met students only, and occasionally, we also advertise opportunities open for non-Cardiff Met students to apply.

To ensure a good balance of work and study, we recommend full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students work no more than 16 hours per week during term time. If you’re an international student, please ensure you are aware of any restrictions you have on the hours you can work. A student visa issues for full-time degree-level studies usually allows a student to work a maximum of 20 hours per week during term-time. You can find more information on our international student advice website.

Internships

An internship is a period of paid work experience, lasting for a fixed period of up to 12 months. Internships enable you to build knowledge and skills in a specific field of work, as well as develop professional networks. They offer professional work experience alongside full training and support, and help to inform your future career planning.

Our internships are available to both Cardiff Met students, and those who do not currently study with us. Take a look at our current opportunities by using our search tool above.

Don’t forget that if you are a Cardiff Met student, you also have access to MetHub where you can search for internships at other organisations. You may also have the opportunity to complete and internship or placement as part of your studies. Contact your School Placement Team for Support.
