What our nursing programmes offer

Our Adult and Mental Health Nursing programmes are designed to prepare students to become safe, competent and compassionate registered adult and mental health nurses, ready to work across a range of healthcare settings.

Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, patients, families and carers, they will learn to provide high‑quality, person‑centred care that respects dignity, values and cultural backgrounds, while promoting independence and wellbeing.

Learning draws on research, clinical evidence and critical thinking, ensuring students are equipped to make informed decisions and improve outcomes.

Practice‑based learning in exceptional facilities

Our nursing programmes are defined by their connection to real-world practice. A key part of this is our Allied Clinical Health Hub – a purpose-built and public facing environment designed for authentic interprofessional education (IPE), where education, research and patient care come together. This is an award-winning setting, recognised nationally for excellence in collaborative practice and innovation.

Through the Hub, you will be part of a model that offers:

NHS‑standard clinical environments and simulation facilities
Student‑led clinics working with real patients and registered practitioners
Interprofessional learning alongside allied health and social care colleagues
Opportunities for applied research and innovation rooted in practice

This is a hands-on, “learning by doing” environment where teaching reflects the realities of modern healthcare. Students build confidence before entering placement through experience in real outpatient-style facilities, working alongside multidisciplinary teams. Staff remain closely connected to practice, developing their own clinical expertise, research capability and professional impact within an environment that supports innovation and excellence.

The Allied Clinical Health Hub is home to award-winning initiatives that are making a measurable difference to patients and communities. One example is the ANCLE Café wound-care service, developed in partnership with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, which has improved patient healing rates by up to 70% while helping to reduce demand on GP and district nursing services.
